More than 44,000 quake-hit families start building houses in Nuwakot

Nuwakot : A total of 44,485 families affected by the earthquake of April, 2015 have started building houses with the grant provided by the government, said the District Project Implementation Unit. The number of families constructing houses with the grant is more than two thirds of the total 69,289 registered under the housing grant. Those building houses have already received first tranche of Rs 50,000 under the scheme, and applied for the second tranche, said the Unit Chief Bidur Khadka. Of the total 44,485 applied for the second tranche, the total 41,794 are eligible for the facility, he said, adding that a total of 5,408 are qualified for the third trance. Two invigilators expelled for dereliction of duty

Rajbiraj : Two invigilators of Saptari were expelled for indulging in immoral acts during the final day of the Secondary Education Examinations or SEE here today. An oversight team led by District Education Officer Dolraj Pandey expelled them from the examination centre based at the Happyland Higher Secondary School in Rajbiraj, the district headquarters of Saptari. Raj Dev Shah and Jeevan Yadav were expelled on the charge of helping the examinees cheat instead of checking such activities. Two bills enacted

Hetauda :  The Province-3 State Assembly meeting unanimously enacted two bills, one on Public Document Certification and another on Regularizing Economic Work Procedure, with amendments. The parliamentary meeting held under the chair of Province Speaker Sanukumar Shrestha on Friday evening endorsed the two bills with four amendments. Ruling parties' parliamentarians Madhav Prasad Poudel and Deepak Niraula had presented amendment proposal to the bill on public document certification. Likewise, parliamentarian from opposition Nepali Congress Prabhat Tamang presented amendment proposal to economic work procedure bill. UML-Maoist Centre strike 7 point deal on party unification

Prakash Silwal, Kathmandu : Top leaders of the CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) have forged consensus on seven points including the name of the new political party after the party unification. No ‘turn by turn’ system in premiership: leader Nepal

Gaur : CPN (UML) leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the 'turn by turn' system should not be established to the post of Prime Minister. Bhaktapur : Chief Justice (CJ) Gopal Parajuli has said that the notable progress has been witnessed in the justice delivery system in the country. Stationery caught with fire in Jumla

Jumla : Stationery items worth Rs 3.5 million gutted after a fire broke out on Monday morning in Khalanga, Jumla. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dr Tapan Kumar Dahal said that GP Stationery based in Chandannath Municipality-5 in Jumla was caught with the fire after the power leakage. Clash on transfer of municipality’s centre; 19 injured

Gaur : As many as 19 people sustained injuries when a clash ensued over an issue of the transfer of Brindaban municipality's centre. Police resorted to firing 21 rounds of tear gas shells to take the situation under control after the locals started vandalizing office of the municipality, protesting the transfer of the centre of municipality at Bishrampur to another area, said DSP at District Police Office, Ram Kumar Dani. Some 16 personnel of Nepal Police and Armed Police and three locals were injured in the clash. Police said that the clash broke out when the locals of Bishrampur entered into the hall and attempted to obstruct the meeting while a meeting of executive was taking place to shift the office of municipality to Chamanpur from Bishrampur.
